The Wonderful Life!
I commented recently that our present is wonderful as are our memories. So often
we treat that word “wonderful” to mean amazing, easy or even always pleasant.
This is NOT what I mean. There is a far deeper sense to this word in my opinion,
though. I am thinking of Full of Wonder. The Oxford definition of wonder is a
feeling of amazement and admiration, caused by something beautiful, remarkable
or unfamilier. Even when life has challenges far bigger than our ability to
endure, when life brings some difficult days or even days in which we suffer, I
still stand in wonder at our amazing God who never leaves us nor forsakes us,
who brings us out to victory on the other side of the hard place, who gives joy
that is deeper than our circumstances or our experiences or the current pathway
we tread. So life is wonderful: I stand in awe and wonder at our God of beauty,
of compassion and of grace. Yes, we do have days in which we don’t face those
difficulties and we see things come together so well, but life is deeper than
that. Life can be wonderful during these times, but also when we are learning
life lessons from the other times. Our prayer is that we may become more and
more like Him, and that our lives will count for the things that matter to Him
and to those among whom we live. That would be wonderful!
Yes!!
